Guru de la Seacrest de la Doink de la AdRoc de la Snake de la Slade de la Zangief de la Deavie de la Chim de la Lunchbox de la Smash de la Simien de la Crap...

Just some blurbs. Not worthy of a full-length blogpost, but I find myself having conversations about these things a lot (with myself that is). I hope you will be entertained or at the very least I provide a nice little interesting break from your daily grind.

Let the Maniac begin...

A. Eric Clapton - The cell phone Commercial
  • This commercial is a mixture of comedy and stupid for me. I know he's Eric Clapton and singer-songwriters like him, from his era - can do no wrong. Who at T-Mobile/HTC thought that out of his expansive song catalog they should pick "I've Got a Rock 'N Roll Heart" for the commercial? And c'mon Eric, "I get off on 57 Chevy's, I get off on screaming guitar..." Really? You "get off" on those things. I guess it's a good thing that song is a warning to the woman you are dating, because those are weird things. I mean a screaming guitar on an AC/DC or Rush song can take me to a place it's hard to get back from, but I have never...well let's not beat a dead horse...(no pun intended)... So I think the lyrics are stupid, but at the same time funny. Since the debut of the commercial, I walk around Lynette's house singing "I get off on...(something random to fill the blank)..." The first time I did it, Lynette was like "What are you singing?" And if you know me, once I find something that is annoying...hehehe...
  • "The Wolfman". Finally the superior monster is gonna get its day. Vampires have been ruling the airwaves of both the silver screen and the small screen. Two vampire franchises do have shape-shifters in them "True Blood" and "Twilight", but shape-shifters have a choice when they turn into and what they turn into for the most part. The "Twilight" shape-shifters turn into wolves only, but still can choose when to transform and are like the size of a school bus from what I can tell in the movie "New Moon". Now though the werewolf (many country's have legends of were-creatures, like some African countries have were-leopards or were-jaguars; Native Americans call werewolves skinwalkers) is getting its day. A remake of the classic Lon Chaney movie, this movie looks like it is going to be bloody, frightening, and quite frankly amazing. Werewolves are these cursed men - (you become a werewolf either from a curse or a werewolf bite...) in the original Lon Chaney version, he is cursed by a gypsy woman...Benicio del Toro looks to be the victim of a werewolf bite and therefore begins his cursed life as a tormented werewolf.
    • Why are werewolves so awesome? It's all in the transformation. The breaking bones, the bulging muscles, the fur. (I wish I could grow facial hair because at least then I could look like a werewolf in the "TeenWolf" vein...this little blurb really reminds me that the 80s were the werewolf heyday...) The animal instincts, the primal-supernatural strength, and the amazing howl.
    • So three cheers to werewolves making a comeback.
  • "Book of Eli" - Denzel Washington's character reminds me of my brother Christopher. I berate him for his wholehearted devotion to Christ, my nickname for him is "The Monk", because I think sometimes that is the life that would best suit him. This has always been just to disguise my envy. I'm envious of his passion and his set-apartness, and his courage, though sometimes mis-directed. He has never forgotten his first love, though I have been guilty of that sin myself. Denzel's character in his focus and devotion to his task reminds me of the devotion my brother has in normal everyday life. So put in the same shoes, in a post-apocalyptic America, and if he could bring himself to entertain violent means, he would be as wholeheartedly devoted to his mission as Denzel Washington's loveable rogue is in the "Book of Eli.
  • Conan's Swansong -
    • Crazy and hard to watch Robin Williams
    • Always charming Tom Hanks
    • The kickass rebel with a receding hairline that is Neil Young - the grandfather of grunge
    • His little note against cynicism (hit me hard, because I am the biggest cynic I know...too disenchanted and untrusting to see too much good in anything or hold on to hope for too long at one time)
      • ...and all I ask is one thing, and this is, I'm asking this particularly of young people that watch. Please do not be cynical. I hate cynicism. For the record, it's my least favorite quality. It doesn't lead anywhere. Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard, and you're kind, amazing things will happen. I'm telling you amazing things will happen. I'm telling you, it's just true.
    • Ensemble performance of "Freebird" - Ben Harper, Max Weinberg, Beck, one of the ZZ Top beardy guys, Conan and his own personal axe...
      • I don't think anybody will ever top how he turned a very unfortunate corporate decision into a laugh and wonderful national goodbye. But like Guru said on Twitter, Robin Williams is crazy...

"Good Night, and Good Luck".
