1. I was listening to the radio last night in the shower. There was some show on 99.7 and they were interviewing this band. The host asked one of the band members what was a tip he would give to women. He said, "Ladies, make that extra trip to the gym. If you go three times a week, make it four times. Get that bikini body for the summer." I am not a woman, and I was outraged. The female host stamped her approval on his comments.
THIS IS WHY WOMEN ARE SO CRAZY IN THE UNITED STATES. WE PLASTER SYMBOLS OF BEAUTY ON THE COVERS OF OUR MAGAZINES AND MARKET THEM TO WOMEN, MEN AND TEENS AS DECLARATIONS THAT THOSE AIRBRUSHED, COMPUTER MANIPULATED, SILICONE-ENHANCED, BOTOX INJECTED WOMEN ARE THE PINNACLES OF BEAUTY AND WHAT SHOULD BE AIMED FOR IN LIFE. IT'S WHY THICK WOMEN DRESS IN CLOTHING THAT IS NOT FLATTERING TO THEIR SIZE, BECAUSE IF THEY CAN'T BE THIN, THEY MUST DRESS LIKE IT. IT'S WHY WOMEN EXERCISE DESPITE WHAT THEY WEIGH, BECAUSE THERE IS ALWAYS SOME AREA TO TRY TO GET TONED UP, ALWAYS SOME SPOT TO LOSE A LITTLE MORE IN. IT'S WHY TWO WOMEN THAT I WORK WITH ARE BEANPOLES AND PERFECTLY FINE LOOKING TO ANY HETEROSEXUAL MAN, ARE OBSESSED WITH EXERCISE AND CONSTANTLY CALL THEMSELVES FAT. FEMINISM SAYS CRAP LIKE, WOMEN EXERCISE FOR THEMSELVES TO TAKE CARE OF THEMSELVES. I ARGUE THAT IS PROBABLY A MINORITY.
I can't believe that guy got away with saying that and that a woman commended him for his advice. Like water befriending fire.
All the swingin' dicks, can't put Lovely Woman back together again...But we sure shoved her off the edge of the wall. Aloof to our power we throw our words around like aimless clubs that carry over from the time of Neanderthal. We drag our women around, til they resemble something we are ashamed to associate ourselves with and in our masochistic wisdom erect statues of Goddesses that will become idolized by both sexes. One will look upon it as something they long to have, and the other will look upon it as something they long to be in order to have the admiration of the others.
I am glad I was born a man, because I think life would be too hard as a woman. There are so many outside forces telling you what to be. You have to be old or wise to catch on to that truth.
2. I just saw on BBC News' website that the Freddie Mac financial chief was found dead after an apparent suicide. Of course Freddie Mac sent out a public statement saying that the government's inquiries are probably not related. I'm sure the stress of being found out did not have anything to do with his suicide. It was just a nice Washington D.C. spring day, and he thought, What a beautiful day to string myself up for my wife to find me later."
What a cheap way to go.
Like Hitler killing himself before the Commies could find him. He was afraid of his body being disgraced like Mussolini's body was in Milan (hung upside down and stoned and ridiculed for days).
If the people you are suppose to serve are upset with you, you should face the consequences. Not that the American public would string his corpse up in Times Square and stone him, but the common man has the right to be infuriated at white collar criminals who through their capitalistic greed have screwed the nation and driven the U.S. and the world towards a depression and most definitely already in an ambiguous recession. That's why I don't believe in the Stock Market.

I don't think women should be dubbed "crazy" any more than men.
But I do agree that body image is a constant source of tension for most women I know. Not that men don't also have unattainable expectations placed on them, as well.
And maybe this sounds drastic or overly dramatic or something (me? never!!!) but if I had to give men advice about women, one of the first things I would say is to be sensitive to body image. And by sensitive, I mean don't make stupid cracks about our body or your body and definitely don't say crap about others' body image (good or bad).
It's damaging for women to feel the pressure to be this air-brushed person as you mentioned. But I also want to emphasize that it is just as dangerous for men to support it. Specifically, pornography, for example. (And women engage in this perpetuation as well so we do need to accept some responsibility, too.)
Did I connect any of these thoughts? And holy crap did I write a long response...Interesting post.
I think we are on the same page, but I kinda feel like you were mad at me.
I agree with everything you said.
I love long responses.
haha sorry.
Not mad! Just...passionate?
It's more that I am emphasizing (most) of what you said. Sans the "crazy" comment. I mean, you can (and probably do) call ME crazy but just not women in general.
Did I mention Adam thinks I am a feminist? hahaha.
(Not true by the way.)
