A little high school shoutout to Guru and Billtoon.
* My fiancee read my post about "Fireflies".
She said, "I heard your 'Fireflies' song on the radio today."
"What did you think", I asked?
"It's definitely very Postal Workers."
"Postal Workers? Bah-hahahahaha. It's 'The Postal Service'".
"Like I would know, they only had two good songs."
"False me and my (guy) friends liked their whole album."
* (referring to her taking some laundry down stairs that was laying on her landing)
"I thought about it, but I didn't want to bend over."
(I in Michael Scott fashion)
"That's what she said."
"Bah-hahahahaha."
*My student Hot Wheels is by far my most hilarious student. He is super cute when he smiles real big and loves inappropriateness. Thinks farting and talking about ladies underwear are the FUNNIEST topics ever.
But the thing that gets me is his speech habit of saying "makinda" (understood as "making the" as in "You're makinda (making the) aah.") followed by a noise sound effect.
Examples:
~ I discipline my students as if they were my own children, amongst other things I yell "Aah-Aah." Hot Wheels loves rules/discipline, he repeats them, he quotes them, he laughs about them. So I said, "Aah-aah" to him once earlier this year and he started giggling. "Mr. Tony makinda 'Aah-aah'".
~ He is fascinated with tornado sirens and bad weather in general. Every morning we do calendar time so that the students will know what date to put on their papers throughout the day, plus it's a simple writing activity to help all the students practice their handwriting. After we finish he says,
"Mr. Tony, tonight's weather is Tornado Watch, Tornado Warning, Thunderstorm Watch, Thunderstorm Warning. The lightning bolt goes "bakzzr". The tornado siren's makinda "Wooooooooo".
Go ahead...laugh.
