A pretty suspicious librarian friend of mine, told me about the following website:
http://www.worldsuperheroregistry.com/world_superhero_registry_maine.htm
If you think about it "mild-mannered librarian" or "your friendly neighborhood librarian" do sound like pretty good covers. hmmmmmmmmm???
Me and my brothers (myself as ringleader) use to practice being superheroes after school as late as 7th or 8th grade for me. We would talk about costumes, powers, gadgets, buying a police radio to listen to crime alerts, and practice our speed and fighting skills. Then I settled down and relinquished the possibility of becoming a superhero, even in the vein of a self-made superhero like Batman (who though being only a peak physical condition human being, can hold his own with Superman). I was just too afraid of the dangers.
Then I hear about this website. The website is a little creepy. It's a little Rorschach from "The Watchmen"...uber-paranoid, but very real and immediate. Like superheroes are real, their role in society is important, and they must be taken seriously despite the fact that they may operate outside of the law.
Probably my favorite part of the website is the entry page and the 3 MINIMUM criteria of being a superhero:
1. COSTUME
2. HEROIC DEEDS
3. PERSONAL MOTIVATION
I can't believe someone is really living the dream. MY childhood dream.

My favorite part: The emphasis on the legal implications of such a mission--complete with legal advice and that (at least according to this site) "some states ban the wearing of masks."
Who knew?
