So Lynette and I are in Spring Cleaning mode. We have these old clothes and shoes (mainly Lynette does), that we need to give away. Lynette wants to take them down to Hope Faith Ministries to be used in their free clothing store for the homeless, as we have in the past. We keep forgetting to and we never wake up early enough to do it on Saturdays or if we are up early, we have other stuff to do.
So as an alternative, I was gonna drop some stuff off in a Planet Aid dumpster. The yellow bins outside of gas stations and Wal-Marts that say the stuff goes to 3rd World countries. Gotta love the 3rd World, always make you feel needed, you know?
Lynette was like, "I don't know, I feel like the take the stuff and sell it at a garage sale." I was like, "No way." and got on the internet and searched "Planet Aid". Out of the first 10 posts on Google, seven were about scandals that Planet Aid has gotten into...FOR SELLING DONATED CLOTHES AND MAKING TONS OF MONEY OFF OF DONATIONS.
So we will not be giving anything to those ugly yellow bins ever again. Just read some of the stories, it seems pretty shady. Their leader is some Danish guy (Denmark...that country that Hitler wanted for the port of Danzig) who is considered a cult leader because of the control he has over all the charities and organizations he runs.
If you cannot trust charities, who can you trust?

Dang! That is shady! Thanks for sharing.
p.s. We are huge fans of Savers. You donate, you get a coupon for future purchases. And they don't pull things out and make you feel weird while surveying your donation. It is accepted no matter what and if it doesn't meet their store standards, they donate it. (this is all per their brochures and a visit with their nice clerk...but I guess sometimes you just have to trust someone?)
